As much as I have embraced pastel pants for this spring and summer (as you can see here), I still love a great pair of black pants. Since it gets cool around sunset, I decided to break out my favorite Rag and Bone jeans for a casual dinner date. These jeans are actually referred to as their “Legging jean” but in my opinion are more like a stretchy cotton twill than denim, which makes them incredibly comfortable.
As I mentioned in my last post, I am loving this warmer weather! It’s nice being able to throw on a top without having to cover it with multiple layers. I used this opportunity to break out some new summery pieces that have been waiting patiently in my closet. One such piece would be this minty chiffon blouse layered over a leopard tank that my sis picked out for me at Aritzia (ok I obviously couldn’t completely get away from the layers). 5 minutes into this courtyard shoot, I realized that I would much rather be in the pool that taking pictures by it. C’est la vie.

Do you ever get in those nature-y moods? Apparently that was me this weekend. I think it all started with the amazing “supermoon” last night. According to scientists, over the weekend the moon was the closest to Earth (and therefore brightest) that it will be all year. Although my camera is obviously not designed to take moon shots (or if it is I obviously do not know how to use that function), but I gave it my best attempt. My attempt as a nature photographer continued today, and I couldn’t resist taking a few flower shots as the sun was setting.
The “supermoon” lights up the sky at 11:30PM.

The prettiest flower in the garden.
Just a little garden stroll with my new favorite Habitual jeans. I was worried they might look too leathery since they are a coated denim, but they are the perfect waxy finish that I was looking for. I picked up this top on my last trip to Santana Row to visit my sister in San Jose, and it has easily become one of my favorite blouses. My only regret is that I didn’t buy it in the cobalt blue color in addition to this white one.

Two big announcements coming soon! One might actually be quite a bit bigger than the other, but I am equally as excited about both of them (I try not to pick favorites). Hint, one of them is coming in the mail in 2 days. I love free 3 day shipping from Shopbop. Anyways, I’m not quite ready to talk about the second one, but this may be another hint: I have been studying quite a bit for my class on Chinese culture, the class that I decided to take for “fun.” Since it is taught in English, versus in Spanish or French like the rest of my classes, I figured, piece of cake! Come to find out there’s a large amount of history and dates to memorize, not to mention lots of words in Chinese and pictographs which have zero meaning to me. However, as soon as my professor mentioned Feng Shui, I perked right up. I have always thought that this concept was so interesting, but has never taken the time to research much about it. Of course we only spent about 10 minutes talking about Feng Shui, but I did learn a few things.
1. It is illegal to practice Feng Shui in China even though that is where it originated.
2. You should never live at the end of a culdasac, especially with your front door facing the street.
3. Your bed should never be facing the door to the bathroom.
What does this have to do with anything? Well, those three facts are just to show off what I learned in class today, but in addition to them, I am very interested in finding spaces that have been Feng Shui-ed. I began to do some research on boutiques that have embraced the concept of Feng Shui, and so far have only managed to find one photo. Does anyone else know about any boutiques that have embraces this concept? By the way, doesn’t her clothing rack look so nice, that’s what I call color coordinated.
